Welcome to The Constantinian Whore (curious about the name? Check out my About page). This is where we tackle tough questions about faith, power, and what it truly means to follow Jesus. If you’ve ever felt uneasy about the Church’s entanglement with politics or wondered if there’s more to Christianity than what you’ve been taught, you’re in the right place. Here, we explore how to live out the true message of Christ—free from centuries of baggage. Let’s break free from old ways of thinking and discover a faith that’s alive and real today.
About us
Imagine walking down a path for 1700 years, only to realize that you may have strayed from your original direction. This is a concern many share when reflecting on the Church's journey since the time of Emperor Constantine. His influence brought significant changes, some of which have been questioned for taking us further from the teachings of Christ. Over the centuries, the Church has indeed accomplished much good—acts of charity, compassion, and community. Yet, alongside these achievements, there have been moments of pain and injustice—religious wars, colonialism, sexism, and the endorsement of practices like slavery and segregation.
In today's world, many wonder how certain movements within Christianity align with figures or ideologies that seem at odds with Christ's message. It's not just about specific moments in history but about a larger question: Are we still on the path that Jesus laid out for us?
If you're exploring this blog, it might be because you're curious about how Christianity's path has evolved. Perhaps you're committed to the Church but concerned about its direction, or maybe you've stepped away but still believe in the hope Christ offers. No matter where you stand, this space is for reflection and dialogue.
As we wake up to a new day, we must ask, "Is this the correct path?" The early Christians described their faith as "the Way." This blog seeks to rediscover that Way—a path that leads us to a more authentic and compassionate way of being human, rooted in the teachings of Christ.
